Boost Your Workflow with Automated DSV Integration

As a dedicated software partner, we architect and deliver turnkey DSV integrations that slot seamlessly into your ERP, warehouse management system, or e-commerce platform. The moment an order is placed, our code takes over: it fetches live DSV rates across Road, Air & Sea, generates compliant shipping labels, schedules pickups via a single API call, and streams back real-time tracking updates—without lifting a finger.

Every business is unique, so we don’t do one-size-fits-all. We collaborate with your team to map your data schemas, style labels with your branding, and automate customs clearance for cross-border shipments. Need to process hundreds of pallets at once? Our batch routines scale effortlessly. Worried about network glitches? Our retry-and-queue logic keeps your shipments moving. And with OAuth2-secure authentication and encrypted data transfers, your credentials—and your customers’ data—are always protected.

What is DSV integration?

DSV integration is a seamless connection between your systems and DSV’s suite of APIs—covering Road, Air & Sea, parcel and e-commerce solutions. By embedding DSV services directly into your application, you automate shipment creation, rate requests, label printing, tracking and billing. You eliminate manual data entry, reduce errors and gain full visibility across every leg of your supply chain.

Which DSV services are supported?

Our integration supports the full DSV portfolio: DSV Road (LTL & FTL), DSV Air & Sea freight, DSV Parcel, and DSV e-Commerce Connect. We also enable Customs Clearance APIs for cross-border compliance, Temperature-Controlled Logistics, and Returns Management. Each service can be switched on or off to match your business needs by region or shipment type.

How long does a project take?

Typical DSV integration projects are delivered in 4–6 weeks, depending on scope and complexity. We start with a discovery phase to map your workflows and pinpoint the DSV endpoints you require. Next, we design and build your integration—covering authentication, rate calculation, label generation and tracking hooks. After rigorous QA and user acceptance testing, we deploy to staging and then to production, with training and support throughout.

What information do I need to get started?

To kick off a DSV integration, you’ll need a DSV developer account and API credentials (client ID/secret or API key). You’ll also provide shipment requirements—package dimensions, weight units, service preferences and HS codes for customs. Finally, share your label branding (logos, fonts, instructions) so we can configure everything to your style.

How does the Shipment Creation API work?

The Shipment Creation API lets you submit full shipment details—sender and recipient addresses, dimensions, weight and selected service—in a single JSON POST. DSV returns a shipment reference, tracking number and a base64-encoded or PDF label. You can include special instructions such as temperature control, pallet handling or signature requirements. Once the label is generated, you push it to your print station or warehouse for immediate dispatch.

What endpoints are available in the Tracking API?

DSV’s Tracking API offers ‘Track by Waybill’, ‘Track by Reference’ and ‘Batch Tracking’ endpoints, along with an Event History feed. Every response includes timestamps, geo-coordinates and status codes, so you can build real-time dashboards, trigger notifications or sync with your CRM.

Can I generate labels automatically?

Yes—using DSV’s Label Generation endpoint, you request labels in PDF or ZPL formats directly from your system. Provide the shipment reference and format, and DSV returns the label as a downloadable file or base64 string. You can then automate printing or embed labels in customer emails.

Does DSV offer a Rate Calculation API?

DSV’s Rate API provides instant quotes for Road, Air & Sea, parcel and e-commerce services based on origin, destination, dimensions and weight. Integrate this at checkout or in your TMS to display accurate costs for multiple transport modes. The response includes base rates, surcharges and breakdowns for transparent pricing.

How do you handle rate estimation for DSV Road shipments?

Since DSV Road does not expose a public rate-estimation API, we’ve developed a proprietary algorithm that calculates road and rail pricing based on standardized DSV price files. Our engine factors in cubic meters, loading meters, weight tiers and route-specific surcharges to deliver precise estimates. You can still book Road, Air or Sea shipments directly via the DSV API; the only difference is that our algorithm powers the upfront price estimate, ensuring consistency with DSV Express rates where their API is available.

How do I schedule pickups via the API?

The Pickup API lets you request DSV drivers to collect shipments at specified addresses and time windows. You send pickup details—date, slot, package count and instructions—in JSON, and DSV confirms with a pickup reference. You can query the pickup status or modify requests as needed, ensuring you never miss a collection.

Which authentication methods does DSV support?

DSV supports OAuth2 token-based authentication and API key methods, depending on the endpoint. For OAuth2, exchange your client ID and secret for an access token. For legacy services, include your API key in the request header. We’ll help you implement secure token refresh and credential storage best practices.

Are sandbox and production environments available?

Yes—DSV provides separate sandbox and production endpoints so you can test your integration without affecting live shipments. In sandbox mode, you simulate shipments, rates and tracking events. Once validated, switch your base URLs and credentials to production for go-live.

How do I handle webhook notifications?

DSV’s Webhook service pushes POST callbacks on status changes—like ‘In Transit’, ‘Delivered’ or ‘Exception’. You register your callback URL and select the events you want. Each webhook includes an HMAC signature for authenticity, allowing you to update dashboards, trigger alerts or adjust inventory in real time.

What data formats does the API use?

DSV’s modern APIs accept and return JSON payloads, making integration straightforward in any language or framework. You specify your content type in request headers, and the API validates and parses JSON automatically. Legacy XML/SOAP services are also supported through our abstraction layer.
